Friendket Payment & Cancellations

This Policy governs fees, payment collection, cancellations, refunds, booking confirmation, disputes, and payouts for bookings made on Friendket. It is incorporated by reference into the Friendket Terms.
1) Definitions
Member: user purchasing a booking.
Friend: user providing the booked time/activity.
Booking: a scheduled, paid reservation made through Friendket.
Booking Price: the amount paid for the booked time/activity, excluding Member fees and taxes.
Member Platform Fee: Friendket fee charged to the Member (10% of Booking Price).
Friend Service Fee: Friendket fee charged to the Friend (5% of Booking Price, deducted from Friend payout).
Start Time: the scheduled start time shown in the Booking.
Grace Period: 15 minutes after Start Time unless the Booking specifies otherwise.
Confirmation Code / Code Redemption: the in-person code exchange that marks the Booking as started on-platform.
Cancellation Payment: the portion of the Booking Price paid to the Friend when a Member cancels late or no-shows, as described below.
2) Minimum/Max booking price
Friendket does not support bookings below $10.00. Bookings above $500.00 should be split or will require explicit approval.
3) Fees
Member Platform Fee: 10% of the Booking Price (added to the Member’s total at checkout).
Friend Service Fee: 5% of the Booking Price (deducted from the Friend’s payout).
Example: Booking Price $20.00 → Member pays $22.00 total; Friend payout is $19.00 (before the Friend’s taxes and any other required withholdings).
4) Payment collection and hold
When a Booking is confirmed in-app (both Member and Friend agree), Friendket charges the Member’s payment method for the total amount due and holds funds pending completion, cancellation, refund, dispute resolution, or payout under this Policy (“Payment Hold”). Friendket is not a bank.
5) Cancellations and refunds before Start Time
5.1 Member cancellation before Friend confirms the booking
Member refund: 100% of Booking Price, including the Member Platform Fee.
Friend payout: $0.
5.2 Member cancellation more than 24 hours before Start Time
Member refund: 100% of Booking Price, minus the Member Platform Fee.
Friend payout: $0.
Member Platform Fees are nonrefundable except where required by law or when Friendket determines a refund is appropriate for trust/safety reasons.
5.3 Member cancellation within 24 hours of Start Time (late cancellation)
Member refund: 50% of Booking Price.
Friend payout (Cancellation Payment): 50% of Booking Price, minus the Friend Service Fee and any applicable adjustments/withholdings.
Member Platform Fees are nonrefundable except where required by law or when Friendket determines a refund is appropriate for trust/safety reasons.
5.4 Friend cancellation (any time before Start Time)
Member refund: full refund, including the Member Platform Fee.
Friend payout: $0.
5.5 Mutual cancellation (“Try to Cancel”) within 24 hours
If a Member initiates cancellation within 24 hours of Start Time, Friendket may place the Booking into a “Try to Cancel” state:
- If the Friend agrees to cancel before Start Time, Member receives a full refund of the Booking Price minus the Member Platform Fee, Friend receives $0.
- If the Friend does not agree before Start Time, the Booking is treated as a Member late cancellation under Section 5.3.
6) No-shows and unavailability
6.1 Member No-Show
A Booking is treated as a Member No-Show if the Member is unavailable or unresponsive at Start Time, including failure to meet at the agreed location within the Grace Period.
Member refund: 0% of Booking Price.
Friend payout: 100% of Booking Price, minus the Friend Service Fee and any applicable adjustments/withholdings.
6.2 Friend No-Show
A Booking is treated as a Friend No-Show if the Friend does not appear within the Grace Period (or otherwise fails to commence the Booking).
Member refund: full refund, including the Member Platform Fee.
Friend payout: $0.
Friendket may apply account restrictions or other enforcement actions.
7) Confirmation Code and booking start
7.1 Code format and purpose
Each Booking has a unique 4-digit Confirmation Code. Code Redemption is used to confirm the Booking has started and to reduce payment disputes.
7.2 Member control and warning
The Member can reveal the Confirmation Code at any time in-app. If the Member attempts to reveal the code more than 2 hours before Start Time, Friendket may display a warning.
7.3 Code validity and attempts
After the Member clicks “Reveal,” the code is valid for 15 minutes, after which Friendket may rotate the code. The Friend is limited to 5 attempts to enter the correct code.
8) Refundability after Code Redemption; early endings
Once the Confirmation Code is redeemed:
- The Booking is considered started/in progress on-platform.
- The Booking Price becomes nonrefundable except in the event of a dispute reviewed under Section 11 (including safety issues or material misrepresentation).
- If the Member ends early, refunds are not issued for unused time unless Friendket determines a safety issue or material misrepresentation occurred.
- If the Friend ends early or materially fails to provide the agreed activity/time, Friendket may issue a partial or full refund based on evidence.
9) If the code is not redeemed (post-booking confirmation flow)
If the Confirmation Code is not redeemed, Friendket may ask both parties after the scheduled Booking time (and up to 48 hours afterward) whether the Booking occurred.
Outcomes:
- Both say “No”: Member refund = Booking Price minus the Member Platform Fee.
- Both say “Yes”: Friend is paid Booking Price minus the Friend Service Fee (and any adjustments/withholdings).
- Friend says “Yes,” Member says “No”: default outcome is Member refund = Booking Price minus the Member Platform Fee, unless the Friend provides clear proof that the Booking occurred, in which case Friendket may pay out the Friend.
After the Dispute Window closes (48 hours following the Scheduled End Time), Friendket may finalize the outcome based on available information and this Policy.
10) Rescheduling
Reschedules requested are allowed without fee if the Friend accepts, if not accepted, the standard cancellation policy in section 5 will proceed.
11) Disputes (platform process)
Disputes must be submitted within 48 hours after the scheduled end time, unless required otherwise by law.
Friendket may review in-app messages, booking details, Confirmation Code redemption status, party statements, and any collected time/location signals.
Friendket may issue: no refund, partial refund, full refund, and/or account enforcement actions.
During a dispute, Friendket may place funds on hold.
12) Chargebacks
Members must use Friendket’s dispute process before initiating a card chargeback. If a chargeback is initiated, Friendket may suspend or limit the account during investigation and may require additional verification.
13) Payout timing and holds
Friendket initiates Friend payouts no earlier than 48 hours after the scheduled end time shown in the Booking (the “Scheduled End Time”), provided no dispute is pending and no risk hold applies.
Friendket may place temporary holds/reserves on payouts for risk management, including disputes, suspected fraud, unusually high transaction values, or new Friend accounts.
Processing timelines (Stripe): Friendket may initiate payouts after the Dispute Window closes, but actual delivery timing depends on our payment processor (e.g., Stripe) and the Friend’s payout method and verification status. First-time payouts and new accounts may be subject to longer processing periods (including up to 7–14 days or longer in some cases) due to processor onboarding, risk reviews, bank processing, or compliance requirements. Friendket is not responsible for delays caused by payment processors or financial institutions.
14) Refund timing
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method. Processing time depends on the payment network and the Member’s bank.
15) Enforcement and Friend onboarding requirements
Friends are expected to understand and follow the Confirmation Code process. Code Redemption is the primary on-platform signal that the session has started and supports payout reliability. Repeated late cancellations, no-shows, or credible Member reports may result in investigation, payout holds, suspension, or termination consistent with Friendket’s Terms and policies.
